Are you aware :: one of the top reasons we accumulate belly fat?
*no my answer is not going to be food related (today!) or diving into hormonal changes women face as we grow wiser … yet*
STRESS
Stress is the well researched (and controllable!) answer.
There is a healthy balance of stress our body uses for energy ::
acute stress (good!!) vs. chronic stress (no bueno!!)
High stress ignites fat deposits around our organs, also known as visceral (belly!!) fat.
Nerd tip :: when we start to accumulate this type of fat, it is a sure fire sign something is wrong with our sympathetic nervous system.
However, when acutely stressed, there is a norepinephrine signal - requesting fat for energy.
This request asks to stop accumulating the fat and to release it for use.
So, how can we lean more acute?
Let’s keep it simple ::
go for a walk
(or if you want to amp it up - consistent exercise)reset our nervous system
(through breath work / jumping up and down / dancing like no one’s watching)getting quality sleep
There are many other ways to mitigate our stress levels, so if none of these are necessarily your jam (*although, sleep should really be our #1 priority as it has an impact on EVERYTHING*) - try something to integrate in your daily life and live better!
